At the IAE, we believe that if you have the passion and desire to become an arts entrepreneur, we can teach you how to build an income stream that will be based on your talents, interests and values.  But we also realize that everyone starts in different places, and so we've put together a series of shorter workshops no matter where you are in your entrepreneurial development.  We also offer a series of monthly networking events to help you get connected with the community around you as you continue to build your new arts business.

 SHORT TERM CLASSES

If you are not sure you have what it takes to become an arts entrepreneur, sign up for a Bite-Size 1 week entrepreneurial immersion training experience.  The Bite-Size Arts Ensemble is an introduction to entrepreneurship for artists of all disciplines. We will teach you the rudimentary entrepreneurial skills you need to help you decide if building a business in the arts might be for you.

Enroll in the Center for Creative Enterprise's two week (summer) or two weekend (through out the year) intensive Boost Camp.  If you already know you are passionate about launching a business in the arts and have an idea for a business, enroll in the Creative Enterprise Boost Camp!  We will help you transform your idea into a viable business concept and outline the specifics of a future start-up.  CEBC will teach you the fundamentals of creative business development and help you to understand the relationship between intelligent planning and ultimate success.  Boost Camp is scheduled once a quarter.

Are you a performing artist interested in learning the nitty-gritty details on how to produce your own work? The Produce Yourself 3-hour workshop is designed to take an intensive look at your concept, narrow it down to a target audience and help you assemble a basic marketing plan that will help you not only promote your current show, but continue building an audience long after the curtains have closed.

  NETWORKING EVENTS

The IAE has partnered with ING DIRECT Cafe Chicago to bring you a special opportunity to mingle with artists and entrepreneurs on the third Thursday of every month.  Besides making some valuable new connections, you'll also get the chance to hear short presentations from a series of local arts entrepreneurs and get a quick glimpse of some current projects, organizations and ideas that you could get involved with.  Admission is free and our next events take place on Thursday, July 15th and Thursday, August 19th from 7-9 pm.

To RSVP for our next event, click here.

Held at beautiful Flourish Studios, the home of The Institute For Arts Entrepreneurship, each month we will feature a guest artist who has successfully launched their own visual arts business.  They'll discuss the issues inherent in being an arts entrepreneur and how they personally dealt with the challenges of starting a business in the arts.  Admission is free for those currently enrolled in the Flourish Artisan Program and $10.00 for general public.
